Critical gauges include oil pressure, coolant temperature, and voltage. For boosted applications, add boost pressure and air/fuel ratio gauges. Transmission temperature gauges are important for towing vehicles.

Mount gauges in a location visible without obstructing the road ahead. Use the proper sending units for each gauge, route wiring carefully, and connect to appropriate power sources. Consider gauge pods or dash mounts for a clean installation.

Mechanical gauges use direct fluid or pressure lines to the gauge, offering accuracy but risk cabin leaks. Electrical gauges use sending units and wiring, providing safer installation and easier routing at the cost of slight response delay.

Digital gauges offer precise readings, data logging, and customizable displays. They are more expensive than analog but provide additional features like peak recall, warning alerts, and smartphone connectivity. Choose based on your data needs and budget.

Common gauge sizes are 2-1/16 inch (52mm) for most applications and 2-5/8 inch (60mm) for boost and wideband gauges. Verify your gauge pod or dash opening size before purchasing to ensure proper fitment.
